Welcome to my website. I use ryanguy.net for a mixture of professional, personal, and educational purposes. It also serves as a portal to other digital projects and work I am currently undertaking. Please feel free to explore my site and let me know if there is anything I can help you find.
Bio:As you have probably figured out by this point my name is Ryan Guy and this is my website. Currently I wear a variety of different hats and this site is an attempt to bring some coherence to my life in a digital fashion. For simplicity's sake I'll break down my identity into the four categories that make up the greater me: IT Professional, Student, and River Guide.
IT ProfessionalSince 2006 I've worked as an independent technology consultant, serving a variety of clients in different industries. My main focus is solutions design and the implementation of effective computer mediated communication technologies. Having spent a number of years working for traditional IT firms I've discovered that technology needs to be appropriate to the organizations it's implemented in. I work to create the kinds of tools that help the individuals inside organizations be more effective while not feeling like they are overburdened and digitally tethered to their professional lives. Whether its setting up a simple website or a full enterprise communications redesign, I have the skill set and experience to help you achieve your goals.
StudentHaving completed undergraduate degrees in Communication Studies and Computer Information Systems, I have moved forward with my education and am in the process of obtaining my Masters and PHD in Communication Studies. Specifically I'm focusing on Computer Mediated and Organizational Communication. Original research and future published work is(or soon will be) available in the "Original Research" section of this site.
River GuideI started running the rivers of my home state(California) in 1998 and have been hooked ever since. For several years I had the opertunity to work as a Class IV-V Raft Guide for Chuck Richards Whitewater based on the Kern River. After Chuck lost his permit for poltical reasons in 2004, I started working for Kern River Outfitters(formerly Outdoor Adventures) and have been happy there since. This comming summer I will be spliting my summer working on the Kern till early July when I will pack up and head notrth to guide boats for Rogue River Journeys(KRO's Sister Comapny) in Oregon. |
